3. To Hear themselves:

Important Things To Remember Why Do Musicians Wear Headphones:

*Now that you understand the purpose of musicians wearing headphones, there are some important things to remember if you ever go to a concert yourself. Some things include:

  1.  Be mindful of the fact that they’re there to play music for you and the rest of your peers.  Try not to distract them with questions or talk too much.  If they are wearing headphones then most likely they cannot hear what’s going on around them very well or at all, so they can’t answer any questions you may have.
  2.  If you’re trying to talk, wait until the song is over or ask them if during a break they can answer any questions.
  3. “Let’s put our phones away.” This is not only respectful but it also helps you see better because then there are no bright lights shining in your eyes either.  And when there are all these bright lights, it’s not only distracting for the performer but also for the audience too.
  4. If you’re at a concert in an outdoor area or outside in general, be respectful of your surroundings. If you’re in the front row then that means no flash photography because there is nothing worse than having hundreds of people having their phone cameras going off during a performance. Not only is the bright light distracting, but so is the sound. It can be a real drag to try and play a musical instrument while hundreds of phones are taking pictures or recording you.
  5. Be mindful that if there’s talking then it could really ruin the experience for those around you who want to listen.   This is especially important if you’re watching the performer up close. When you buy tickets, it’s like you are promising not to talk because there is no other way for someone to know that your phone isn’t on silent or that you whispering, then again there could be really cranky people sitting next to them.”

Conclusion:

The main reason that why do musicians wear headphones is to be able to hear themselves better.  This helps them know if they’re playing in key or not, see any mistakes they may have made, and stay focused on the music itself rather than what’s going on around them.
